Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian stood at the United Nations on Wednesday and tried to flip the world on its head. After President Trump called Iran a leading sponsor of terrorism and warned Tehran it could be annihilated if it refused a deal, Pezeshkian answered with photos, accusations, and a straight-faced claim that the Islamic Republic is the victim.
The U.S. delegate walked out. Good. You do not sit there and nod while a regime that has spent decades arming Hamas, Hezbollah, the Houthis, and every other death cult in the region lectures America about murder.
Pezeshkian held up pictures and said this:
“United States, by using weapons with multiple targeted that sports hall. They martyred, assassinated our scientists, our men, women, and children. Innocent children whom in truth had committed no crimes, no sins. Those who are terrorists and train and protect terrorists describe us as such. We have only defended ourselves. We are not terrorists.”
Then he doubled down:
“Our innocent people have been the targets of cowardly attacks and aggressions imposed upon our country, and we defended ourselves with utmost strength. America and Israel attacked us equipped with the latest technology and weapons.”
That is the line. We are not terrorists. We only defended ourselves.
It is a lie so large it needs a stage the size of the General Assembly.
This is the same system that gunned down its own people in the streets. Tens of thousands of Iranians have been killed, beaten, imprisoned, or hanged for protesting the mullahs. Women were murdered for refusing the veil. Students were crushed for demanding a life that was not a police state. That blood is not American. It is Iranian, spilled by Iranian rulers who now want the world to weep for them.
For decades Tehran has not “defended itself.” It has exported war. It built proxy armies, funded rocket campaigns, and treated Gaza, Lebanon, Yemen, and Iraq as launching pads. It assassinated dissidents abroad. It chased a nuclear program while claiming it only wanted electricity. It treats civilian death as a public-relations tool and then shows up in New York calling the United States the terrorist.
Pezeshkian waved pictures of children and a sports hall and acted as if history began the day American and Israeli munitions hit Iranian targets. He said nothing honest about why those strikes happened: a regime that chose confrontation, chose proxies, chose enrichment, and chose to keep the Strait of Hormuz as a hostage.
