He said it on Inauguration Day. Last night, the world watched it happen again.

Standing in the Capitol Rotunda on January 20, 2025, President Trump told the country that his life was saved for a reason. He said the assassin’s bullet that grazed his ear in a Pennsylvania field did not end his story because God had a purpose still unfulfilled. He said it plainly. “I was saved by God to make America great again.”

Fifteen months later, on Saturday night, gunfire erupted near the security screening area of the White House Correspondents’ Dinner. The President and the First Lady were rushed to safety. A Secret Service agent was struck but saved by his vest. The suspect, a 31-year-old former California teacher, was apprehended before he could breach the ballroom doors. Reports indicate his writings explicitly named the President and administration officials as targets. Three attempts. Three failures. The pattern has stopped feeling like coincidence to anyone paying attention. Critics mock the language. Skeptics roll their eyes at the idea of providence. But Scripture has been telling this story for thousands of years. God appoints. God protects. God removes. The kings of the earth do not sit on their thrones by accident. “Daniel answered and said, Blessed be the name of God for ever and ever: for wisdom and might are his: And he changeth the times and the seasons: he removeth kings, and setteth up kings.” — Daniel 2:20-21 You do not have to agree with every policy to recognize a pattern this consistent. Three weapons. Three plans. Three failures. One man still standing at the podium. What does it take to keep denying providence when the evidence keeps stacking up?
