Buckingham Palace Refutes False Online Reports Claiming King Charles III Has Died
The misinformation spread after a Russian news outlet published a fabricated statement that closely resembled an official palace announcement, complete with the royal seal. The fake notice falsely claimed that the King had died unexpectedly, prompting confusion and widespread speculation on social media.
In response, Buckingham Palace issued a statement to the Russian state-run news agency TASS, confirming that the reports were entirely false.
We are happy to confirm that The King is continuing with official and private business,” the palace said, reaffirming that Charles remains actively engaged in his constitutional duties
The false report emerged amid heightened public interest in the King’s health following Buckingham Palace’s announcement in February 2024 that Charles had been diagnosed with an unspecified form of cancer after undergoing treatment for an enlarged prostate. Palace officials clarified at the time that the cancer was unrelated to prostate cancer and that the King had begun a course of regular treatment.
Although Charles temporarily reduced his public engagements on the advice of his medical team, the palace emphasized that he would continue handling state business and official paperwork throughout his treatment.
