BREAKING: Trump Loses Four Times at the Supreme Court Before Lunch
The Supreme Court handed Trump four separate defeats on Monday, all before lunch, in a string of rulings that protected a sexual abuse verdict, the independence of the Federal Reserve, mail in voters in 14 states, and the legal protections that let journalists do their jobs.
Jean Carroll verdict, leaving the jury’s finding that he sexually abused and defamed her fully intact, along with the five million dollar judgment that comes with it.
Then the Court ruled that Trump illegally fired Federal Reserve governor Lisa Cook, the first Black woman to serve on the Fed’s board. Trump pushed her out last year over a baseless fraud claim. The Court said a president cannot remove a Fed governor without cause, and Cook keeps her seat.
Next, in a 6 to 3 ruling, the Court rejected an RNC effort to throw out mail in ballots that were mailed on time but arrived a few days late. The decision protects voters in 14 states, including military members stationed overseas who cannot always make it to a mailbox by Election Day.
Finally, the Court refused to revive Alan Dershowitz’s 300 million dollar defamation lawsuit against CNN, a case that legal experts warned could have gutted protections that let journalists cover public figures without fear of bankruptcy lawsuits
Four rulings. Four losses for Trump and his allies. All in one Monday morning.
