A video clip of the comments circulated online on Dec. 8. Retired FBI supervisory special agent John Nantz shared the clip on X.
The post prompted concern among bureau officials. According to sources, the FBI then instructed Friend to report to the office.
Since Monday, Friend has been required to report in person to the FBI’s Jacksonville field office. Officials said the remarks violated bureau communication policies.
